Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet area located in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" area. For those who don't know, the West Island frequently think that it's a isolated island to the west of Montreal although in actual fact, it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to all things from the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time within the city was brief. Brugel was born in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She aspired to be an elite dancer, however due to a rapid expansion, she outgrew every one of her dancing partners. According to an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. As I grew older than my male companions, I stopped. Many former dancers turn into acting and Brugel was not an exception. A drama teacher in her high school was able to push Brugel in the direction she wanted to go in. Her teacher advised her to audition as Anne in the school's annual production. A teacher suggested that she play a character in the school's annual production. This led to being awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. Over the past 20 years her career has seen her appearing in a variety of films and television productions. The role she was most famous for was that of Rita (shown below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actress in the season 1 which was only seen occasionally.
